Being consciously responsible for what one does or does not do is not a trend to us, but rather something that goes without saying. Social responsibility, sustainability, workplace conditions, our environment and fair practices for our business partners have all been key factors integrated into Maloja's founding values.

'Soul in the woods' was the inspiration for our first collection and became a mantra for all that we do.

The desire to be filled with positive energies that time in nature provides is the basis of the inspiration and it motivates us to this day, to respect and care for our natural environment. The values of honesty, authenticity, respect and decency go hand in hand with "Soul in the woods .

The legends surrounding these beings are as diverse as the places where they live. And yet, the same tales are told about them again and again all over the Alps. They tell farmers when it’s best to sow and harvest. They cut the wheat and help with haymaking. They offer balls of yarn that can never be fully unravelled, and loaves of bread that never grow smaller.

As long as people listen to their advice, never question their support and treat them with respect, they can rely on these good female spirits. Should people become greedy or mistreat them, everything falls apart. The women disappear – and with them, happiness and prosperity.

Dialas, Ganes, Salige or whatever these Wild Women are called in legends, whether they’re described as good mountain spirits, goddesses or fairies, we find the tales told about them fascinating. They’re about values that mean a lot to us personally. And like a compass we can use them to find our way time and time again, they guide us.

The key message of the Wild Women is as current as ever: Everything in moderation. Treat both nature and fellow people with respect. Be honest. Stay grounded. Have faith. This is a powerful message. It inspires courage. And it gives us the confidence that, so long as you handle life with decency and soul, all will be well.

Dialas - Summer 2019

From Dialas, to Ganes, to Salige, myths and fables about “Wild Women” are rife throughout the Alps. They live along lakes and rivers, in meadows and forests, in caves and on cliffs, on glaciers and along exposed ridges. They are almost like nature’s good spirits. They protect animals and plants. They help people and offer their wisdom.

Rock´n Roll - Summer 2016

Did Bill Haley have any idea what he was creating? Did this North American musician and his band "The Comets" realise that on April 12th, 1954, in a small New York studio, they were working on a profound transformation of the music scene? On a new era and new ways of thinking and living? Of course in retrospect everyone understands that with their song “Rock Around The Clock” they shook up the music world, sent society into a spin and made people reconsider the way they think and live.

Alp Appeal - Summer 2011

Some claim they can hear the mountains beckoning. Some speak of the charm and grandeur of the Alps. But we simply admit to the fact that the Alps fascinate us in a very special way. They enchant us. High 4000m peaks inspire awe, cragged rock massifs and steep rock faces take our breath away, and the cheerfulness of the blooming mountain meadows simply fills us with joy.

Endless Riding - Summer 2010

It‘s the peak of summer, but the high treetops of the forest keep the heat comfortably away. A single trail winds through the closely grown tree trunks, fl owing up and down and in curves - the perfect mixture of physical appeal and pure nature enjoyment. Undergrowth, branches and clearances, plains and soft hills follow each other in perfect rhythm. A mountain brook runs alongside the way, goes underground for a couple meters or even kilometers at a time, then suddenly surfaces again, and cools the air. Again and again you catch yourself imagining sinking your hands and arms into the water, up to your elbows and digging your toes into the moss cushioned ground. Especially though, you catch yourself wishing this moment would last forever. You want to ride towards infinity.

Endless Riding - Winter 2010/11

There is this moment in the fall that you’re always afraid of missing, that instant when the tops of the trees suddenly turn into fl aming oceans of color. When the greens are replaced by fi ry reds and yellows, and you hear everyone whispering, “look, it’s fall again”. But this time around, we heard winter calling loud and clear, because we boarded our bus in October already and headed down south for our “endless riding” winter photo shoot.

Soul in the Woods - Summer 2005

Maloja – along new roads
Maloja?? Pronounce it „mah-low-yah“. You could say, we got booked on Maloja, the „alderwoods“ of the Swiss Engadin. First, there was only this picture of a snowboarder in the internet, but for some odd reason the image refused to let us sleep. Then came a deep feeling of curiosity and the unresistable urge to find out what it was all about. We were fed up with the uninspiring organizedness of mass tourism in the posh alpine towns, bored from all the empty chitchat at party after party, weary of the fight to be seen among and belong to the „in crowd“, those people, nurtured by understatement or vanity, and beautiful by law. We set out for the mountain village of Maloja, only a few kilometers away from all the buzz. We were determined to find something different.
